Computer games are a powerful media and there is a lot to learn from them.
In this workshop we will approach first-person computer games with a creative attitude. The goal is to use them for the specific purpose of engaging people in a discourse on aspects of an architectonic project. We will cover the following themes: 3D virtual spaces and behavior, AI (artificial intelligence) and programming, ergodic narratives and game design, large online communities, controversial aspects of this strong media. The workshop will combine technical issues, design, and theory. Because of the broad range of talents needed to design levels for first-person games, students should work in pairs with partners that complement each others talents.
